I've had plenty of transition periods in my life - and although there was a time when I was not comfortable with all the change I experienced, I have come to understand what incredible blessings have come my way as a result of them!  I graduated from Macalester College with a degree in German and a secondary teaching certificate, and then received a Fulbright Grant which allowed me to live, study and teach in Germany for a year.  Dave & I married, and I taught in public and private schools in Wisconsin and Ohio until I chose to be a stay-at-home mom.  During this time I became very involved in supporting natural health, organic foods and products, and alternative education. 

It has always been in my nature to question the status quo of life, and to search for alternatives that make more sense to me.  During a particularly challenging period in my life, I attended The Shadow Process, led by author and transformational expert Debbie Ford - this was extremely challenging and fundamentally transformational, and it opened the way toward a great deal of healing in my life.  As a result, I continued with the Institute for Integrative Coaching through Master's level Integrative Coach certification, and beyond: I served as Lead Staff Coach for the Institute's year-long intensive coach training program in 2004-5.  I'm also a Level 2 Reiki practitioner, and have branched out into a new and exciting work called Body-Centered Coaching, the combination of which has enabled me to integrate my coaching work with Dave's energy work in powerful and exciting new ways!  Currently, in addition to my private coaching practice, I am a leadership learning coach within a high- performance management program at a locally-based multi-national corporation, which is proving to be a fantastic opportunity and is creating powerful results!

I honor the growth opportunities borne of   life's many transition periods (including relationships/marriage, having children/ parenting, career transitions, health challenges, and other life changes).  As we move through major life transitions, we are often shaken to our very cores.  Instead of losing who we believe we are, these life transitions present us with unique opportunities for self-exploration and tremendous growth -- for when all that is not truly essential in our lives falls away, we are given back to ourselves, and we get to   Choose Again.

Usui Reiki - Level 2 attunement

Nothing in my early adult life hinted at my current life calling!  After graduating from Macalester College with a degree in economics, I spent the next 20 years developing the intellectual, non-emotional aspects of my brain as a professional money manager.  However, the disconnect between my outward success and inward disaffection led to my exploration of greater realities beyond what they teach us in school.  During this same period, my wife Pam became a certified Integrative Coach, and I volunteered as a practice client.  My experience with this form of life coaching taught me to listen to my heart, not just to my head, and I realized that my heart was no longer committed to my respectable, high-paying job!  So I made the commitment to resign in the following 12 months.  

During this time, I took Reiki training with the nuns at Ursuline College's Sophia Center in Cleveland, OH and was surprised to find that I seemed to have the talent and ability to focus this healing energy.  This was extremely exciting and scary to me, as I had not had any exposure to this possibility in mainstream society!  I continued with Reiki training through Master level attunement, and then it was recommended that I continue my studies with Warren Grossman, a Cleveland-based energy healer who also trains other energy healers, as I seemed to have a particularly strong ability in this area.  Working closely with Warren as my mentor for over two years, I learned to highly focus my abilities, and added grounding and using nature to achieve similar effects to what I had learned in Reiki.  Whereas Reiki opened me to tapping into the Universal energy that flows down from above, Warren's work opened me to connecting with the natural energy that flows upward from the Earth - and when we become conscious of this, these energies meet in our hearts.  I continue to add other skills from complementary healing modalities, now including Qigong, which I find very effective. It's fair to say that I am eclectic in my approach to healing, my intention being to remain open to the inspiration that will best serve the needs of my clients.  

My goal is to offer workshops and retreats around the world, and eventually to have retreat centers in a variety of wonderful  countries, to benefit the world.
